Our Purpose 

At LMS, we believe that planning and implementing lessons that engage students in standards-aligned data-driven instruction will result in an increase in student achievement, reduce classroom management concerns, and improve the student experience through engagement. We utilize collaborative planning to maximize the use of district and state resources to align instruction to the level of rigor of the standard. We believe that implementing the lessons at the level of rigor of the standard as planned with opportunities for students to be active participants in learning creates the conditions for student engagement and will maximize student achievement. We further believe that exhibiting respect, a sense of community, and high expectations creates opportunities for students to be courageous leaders in a global society.

Luella Middle School is a vibrant learning community where every student has the opportunity to shine.

Located in the heart of Locust Grove, our school serves 851 students in grades 6-8, creating a dynamic environment where young minds grow, explore, and discover their potential.

Our diverse student body reflects the rich tapestry of our community, and we celebrate this diversity through our innovative programs like R.O.A.R.S. (Random Opportunities to Acknowledge and Recognize Students), which fosters a culture of appreciation and mutual respect.

Our commitment to student success goes beyond traditional academics. We pride ourselves on creating opportunities for students to excel, whether it's through our award-winning arts program - where our talented 8th graders have been recognized at the Superintendent's Art Show - or our athletic achievements, like our Girls Flag Football Team becoming County Champions.

We are dedicated to continuous improvement, focusing on closing learning gaps and ensuring every student makes meaningful progress in language arts and math.
